About MRS

Since 1972, New Hampshire's Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) has assisted hikers, climbers, and skiers in need.

Composed of world-class climbers and guides, the all-volunteer team specializes in technical rock, ice, and mountain rescue throughout the White Mountains. With little fanfare, MRS has been involved in nearly every high profile SAR operation in New Hampshire over the last half-century. The team is on call 24 hours a day, all seasons, with volunteers being mobilized for a full range of incidents: complicated multi-day and nighttime searches in the depths of winter, technical rope rescues on the region’s many cliffs, and lift evacuations at area ski resorts.
